Vials and Caps for Extracellular Fluid Sampling

Microdialysis and Open Flow Microperfusion techniques are used to collect extracellular fluid. Unlike blood collection, there are typically no additives in the vials. Instead, the vial is chosen due to size and/or compatibility with the analytical method.

We offer vials for use in our Microvolume Fraction Collector and for the “Large” Volume Fraction Collector (LVFC). As well as our CHADs for Vials™ labeling system to easily identify your samples. See here for lab animal blood collection vials

Microvolume (250-300 µL) Vials and Caps:

Glass Vials 300µL

  • Cylindrical with round bottom. 6 X 32mm
  • Non-reactive borosilicate glass
  • Can be used with either silicone push cap or resealing septa caps
  • Can be frozen at -70°C
  • Optionally with dried heparin for plasma collection

Plastic Vials 250µL

  • Conical. 6 X 35mm
  • Inert polyethylene plastic
  • Can be frozen at -70°C
  • Can be used with either plastic or resealing septa caps

Plastic caps

  • Easy to place, easy to remove
  • Inexpensive way to protect samples from evaporative loss and contamination
  • Optional plastic cap remover makes removal even easier
  • Be advised that although snap-on caps are more convenient, they may put more wear and stress on a fraction collector needle

Resealing PTFE/silicone seal caps

  • Resealing septa caps provide ultimate protection against evaporative loss
  • Septa reseals after puncture with fraction collector needle
  • Requires Crimper Tool for proper placement on vials

Silicone push caps

  • Easy to place, easy to remove
  • Septa reseals after puncture with fraction collector needle
  • Resealing septa caps provide ultimate protection against evaporative loss

Large Volume Fraction Collector (1.0-1.5 mL) Vials and Caps

Microcentrifuge Vials 1.5 mL

  • Conical
  • Inert polyethylene plastic
  • When used with or without their optional caps (MF-5264), can be used with BASi’s Large Volume Fraction Collector
  • Caps are not pre-attached (must be purchased separately)
  • Can be frozen at -70°C

Microcentrifuge Vial Caps

  • Inexpensive way to protect samples from evaporative loss and contamination
  • Safe to use with BASi’s Large Volume Fraction Collector
  • Press into place

Resealing 1 mL vials

  • Inert polyethylene plastic
  • “Duckbill” style resealing cap
  • Cylindrical with round bottom
  • Can be frozen at -70°C

Optional carousels for the BASi Fraction Collectors

  • Spare carousel for 6 x 32 mm glass sample vials, 48 vial positions
  • Spare carousel for 6 x 35 mm plastic vials, 48 vial positions
  • Spare carousel for using 6 X 32 mm glass sample vials in BASi Large Volume Fraction Collector, 26 vial positions
  • Spare carousel for 1-1.5 mL vials in BASi Large Volume Fraction Collector, 26 vial positions
