Awesome things are happening at BASi, not the least of which is the return of our founder, Peter T. Kissinger, as a Scientific Advisor to the company. And what better way to launch our new blog, BASiBroadcast, than a Q&A session with Pete about his thoughts on the ever-evolving pharmaceutical industry and being back at BASi during this exciting time.

Since reengaging with BASi in 2017, I've seen positive trends that matter for 2018. We've had four consecutive quarters with positive earnings after a rough decade with both a slowly recovering economy and ongoing restructuring of the biopharma industry. Investing in growth is a priority. It is well recognized that life science innovation is very healthy, with new initiatives taking hold in editing out genetic abnormalities and marshaling the immune system to help root out a variety of cancers. The FDA approved many new therapies in 2017 and now promises to ease the way to more.

Working with catheterized animals can be challenging, but by revamping a few processes in your lab, you can improve patency rates and animal health. Here are a few tips that we’ve picked up along the way and that might help you, too.

Lauren Elolf joined BASi as a Business Development Manager in July 2018 where she manages sales for the in-vivo product line and oversees BASi’s distributor network.  She brings over eight years of sales, marketing, and technical support of preclinical laboratory equipment including stereotaxic instruments, video tracking software, surgical supplies, and behavior apparatuses.  Lauren has considerable experience negotiating international contracts, and has successfully managed distributor accounts in Australia, Japan, Canada, and throughout Europe.

Over the years, our clients have found alternatives to the standard black collar that we use to connect to the Raturn. Some use commercially available jackets or harnesses, some use vet wrap or soft tubing to soften the collar, and still others have developed their own methods.
